Out of my element here being a long____time XP user here I had bought a Lenovo ThinkStation D20, which works great as it came. True detective season 2 music. Win 7 64 bit pro was pre. It seems that your D20 might have the Marvell SAS/RAID controller that runs the 5 SATA ports on the motherboard. I can't seem to access anything on Lenovo's site, like the D20 drivers. This is a backup of the BIOS settings for myself:-) - 2 x Intel Xeon X5550 2.6Ghz - 48GB ECC Registered DDR3.

Lenovo D20 Raid Controller Driver Windows 7
Out of my element here being a long____time XP user here
I had bought a Lenovo ThinkStation D20, which works great as it came. Win 7 64 bit pro was preinstalled and came with the Win 7 reinstall disk.
I'm trying to install a new Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250 GB as my primary OS/Programs drive.
1st off, this system came with two standard 1 TB HDD's. They were installed on the standard SATA ports ..on I 'think' ports 3 & 4? Or was that 2 & 3? Anyway, none were installed on SATA port #1 as I'd typically put a C drive (OS/Programs drive).
There are also a few 'optical' SATA ports (see at bottom my question if I should be using this for my SSD?).
I just installed my new SSD on SATA port #1 ..I WAS going to disconnect the two drives in there now, but forgot before I booted up. NOW when I boot up, it said 'No operating system installed'..no biggie, I was going to install on the SSD anyway, and just wipe/reformat that other OS regular hard drive.
I go right into the BIOS to have a look, SSD is being recognized as a boot drive, as well as the CD/DVD. BUT the original OS drive (standard) is now on the list below that say's 'something like' not being a boot drive option anymore, or omitted from??? No problem, as I'm going to install the OS on my SSD.
So I go about installing Win 7..but during the install process, I get to a point where Windows wants some driver for this SSD drive, can be installed via a USB, CD etc, and then continue installing Windows..I pop in the CD that the Samsung SSD came with, but it apparently it doesn't have what I need. So now I've been searching 2 over two hours and I'm not getting anywhere.
I've searched the Lenovo site & their forum, and cannot find exactly what I need. The section of Lenovo's sites links to drivers is either dead or just out of service today..? I cannot click on 'contact us' either, anything that I THINK may help on their site doesn't seem to be a working link today
ANOTHER MAJOR QUESTION (from above) .. I was reading the Lenovo user forum, I see that someone suggested to another person to install the SSD drive on one of the 'optical' SATA drive ports..should I be doing this? I thought optical SATA ports were only for CD/DVD drivers etc..?? My Lenovo, has 5 'standard' SATA ports, and 3 'optical SATA ports'.
Any pointers?

Marvell driver for controller not compatible with Win 7 My system is slow to load and no real problem with using the internet. It's just when I play BF3 online my system crashes hard sometimes and powers off or I get real slow fps/ freezes up and I have to shut down the pc to get out. Windows tells me the hd controllers driver (Marvell) is not.. | Drivers
Onboard Marvell Controller Opinions Like a lot of you, my motherboard has an extra set of SATA Controllers by Marvell. When I first tried them back on my Gigabyte Socket 1366 board I thought they were lousy in comparison to the Intel SATA Controller. The benchmarks were not even close. I was mainly concerned about my boot drive.. | Hardware & Devices
